  1. BLOGS

A Blog is a shared online journal where people can post daily entries about their personal experiences & hobbies. It is also called as a web blog. Blogs can be personal, artistic, academic, or professional. It is a unique form of online publishing that creates opportunities for producing knowledge, sharing research, building social networks, developing professionally, or documenting personal growth. For the first time blog was coined by Justin Hall commonly known as Links.net in 1994 as his personal homepage. In 1997 the term “weblog” was coined by Jorn Barger. The term was created to reflect the process of “logging the web” as he browsed. “Weblog” was shortened to “blog” in 1999 by programmer Peter Merholz. The earlier growth period of blog was the year of 2000s. In 1999, Jesse James Garrett gave 23 blogs on the internet. Weblogs was started by Jason Calacanis in 2003, and then sold to AOL for $25 million. Multimedia and Hyperlinks are also important part for blogging. Hyperlinks create a sense of conversation, act like citations in more informal circumstances, and demonstrate that you are engaged with other people’s work. To conclude we can say that a blog is a frequently updated online personal journal or diary, and it is a place to express yourself to the world.

It's a term which means a collective community of all blogs and blog authors and particularly widely read blogs .Discussions in the blogosphere are occassionaly used by media as a gauge of public opinion on various issues. Thus blog is a modern tool for language learning
